Hearts transfer update as Loic Damour nears January exit with club set to listen to offers

French midfielder Loic Damour is set to leave Hearts in the January transfer window with the Tynecastle outfit ready to listen to offers for the out-of-favour player.

The 29-year-old featured in a few bounce games under Robbie Neilson at the start of the season, but is yet to make an appearance in competitive action since the Jambos kicked off their Championship campaign.

The former Cardiff City man is one of the highest earners in Gorgie and Neilson admitted the club are hoping to get him off the wage bill when the transfer window opens next month.

It is unclear whether that will be on a loan or permanent move however, with Damour contracted until 2023.

Neilson told the Edinburgh Evening News: "Loic is back training with the squad and is fit to play. He is available for selection, he just isn’t in the squad at the moment.

"He is at an age where he wants to go and play. If somebody fancies him, I don’t think it would be too hard for us to negotiate it and try to get him out and get him playing because he hasn’t been involved.”

Damour played 21 times for Hearts last season after joining on a free transfer following his release by the Welsh side.

His last appearance came in the 1-0 defeat to St Mirren in March, shortly before the 19/20 campaign was aborted amid the unfolding coronavirus pandemic.

A bone spur issue in his heel kept him out of contention at the start of this season, but he has been unable to force his way into Neilson's midfield, with the likes of Andy Halliday, Peter Haring, Andy Irving and Oli Lee preferred.

The Jambos extended their lead at the top of the Championship table to five points with a 3-1 win over Arbroath at Tynecastle on Tuesday evening.
