Hearts transfer rumour debunked as Robbie Neilson ends speculation on attacker's exit chat

Josh Ginnelly is a big part of what Hearts are going to be doing this season according to Robbie Neilson, as he shuts down transfer talk over the winger.

An arrival from Preston in 2020 brought excitement and Ginnelly helped Neilson's side back into the Premiership. Last season though, he only made 12 league starts, and reports this week have linked him with moving on this summer. Neilson refutes that notion in a week where they will take on FC Zurich in the first leg of their Europa League play-off, with Dundee United coming to Tynecastle on Premiership duty this Sunday.

There's also an eagerness for more signings. Providing a window update, the Hearts manager said: "We’re still looking, we’re still trying. There’s a couple of names out there that we've tried but these things can take a wee bit of time. There’s still a few weeks left in the window and I’m sure we’ll get the positions filled that we want.

“I don’t want to put a number on it, but I do feel we need a couple of positions at least. We’ve got a good squad here but with the games we’ve got coming up, we’re back-to-back Thursday-Sunday almost through to December.

"I need to make sure we’ve got the bodies here to sustain that. I saw that [Ginnelly story] yesterday but I don’t know where that's come from. Josh has obviously been out injured during pre-season and he's just getting back.

"He’s been in the first team squad and on the bench. In my view, Josh will be a big part of this club going forward. He’s a very good player and he’s different from what we’ve got at the moment."
