Hearts transfer latest as Aberdeen striker and Celtic attacker options 'explored'

Hearts have made an enquiry over signing Aberdeen striker Christian Ramirez on loan, according to a report.

The same publication states Robbie Neilson has also made a move for Celtic attacker Mikey Johnston but he is reported to be in talks with Vitoria Guimaraes about a loan move to Portugal. The Jambos are desperate to add to their ranks with Liam Boyce ruled out long-term and Kye Rowles also the latest to join him on the sidelines.

Jim Goodwin snapped up Bojan Miovski this summer meaning Ramirez has been on the periphery at Pittodrie. Hearts are keen to take him to Edinburgh for the campaign but Edinburgh Evening News report that the Dons are reluctant to do a deal with one of their main Premiership rivals. Any move and situation change would need to happen fast with the transfer window shutting at midnight tonight. It is reported that Aberdeen would want Ramirez's vast wage packet covered as much as possible before agreeing to any sort of temporary deal.

Goodwin admitted the hitman and David Bates could both leave the Reds if the right offer lands before the window slams shut. He said: “For the time being they’re contracted to the club.

“Of course, both of them are disappointed not to be involved and want to play more regularly but there are players in my opinion who are ahead of both of them at the moment. Bojan Miovski has proven why we brought him to the club and he is our main No.9 at the moment. And Liam Scales and Anthony Stewart have developed a fantastic partnership.

“Both Bates and Ramirez are used to playing week in, week out, so they will want regular football. Whether they force their way back into my team will remain to be seen. But for the time being, they’re still Aberdeen players and until I’m told any different, that will remain the case.”

Hearts are believed to have been offered Bournemouth’s England Under-21 international centre-back James Hill on loan but the preference would be a more experienced head if possible.
