Hearts transfer Deadline Day state of play including Callum Paterson as Jambos eye one more signing

Hearts are on the hunt for one final addition on Deadline Day with Robbie Neilson not hiding his interest in Callum Paterson.

The Jambos have been working to get a deal over the line with Sheffield Wednesday to bring the Scotland international back to Tynecastle on a long-term deal now rather than in the summer. He's out of contract and could pen a pre-contract agreement with the capital club should nothing be agreed between the two clubs before the midnight deadline.

Should Hearts be unable to convince the English League One high-flyers to part with the versatile player, they have other options in mind that they will look to explore. Three new players have arrived in the window to date with loan deals for Garang Kuol from Newcastle United and James Hill of Bournemouth done to boost the defensive and attacking ranks. Both have already make an impact and settled in well in their new surroundings.

Yutaro Oda has also arrived on a permanent deal from J-League outfit Vissel Kobe. A number of youngsters have headed out so far and further deals could take place. However, no senior stars are expected to leave. Toby Sibbick attracted Blackpool interest, but that was instantly booted into touch. Euan Henderson has made the switch to Queen's Park while Scott McGill has also moved to the Championship with Raith Rovers and Connor Smith at Hamilton Accies.

Hearts' biggest signing of the window could prove to be Kye Rowles new long-term deal. Talk was surrounding the stopper - who only joined from Central Coast Mariners in the summer - after a brilliant World Cup with Australia but he put pen to paper on a new five-year contract in a major boost to all connected with the club.

Robert Snodgrass is another who has made a stunning impact in Gorgie with Neilson keen to extend his stay. As things stand nothing has been penned yet but one that could happen in the weeks to come.

Speaking about his transfer plans after Sunday's draw with Livingston, Neilson said: “We are still trying to get one more in but, as we’ve said, it has to be somebody of quality who can improve the squad. We are working on a couple, but whether we get one we will wait and see.

I don't think there will be any outs. We might move some of the younger ones out on loan for development, and maybe when the window shuts we will consider moving a couple more. At the moment, we are keeping the first team together.”
