Hearts team v Arbroath predicted with Jamie Walker banging on the door

Will it be an unchanged Hearts team for the third week in a row?

Robbie Neilson stuck with the same XI for last week’s win over Ayr United as the one that defeated Dundee at Tynecastle the previous week.

The diamond shape in midfield with two strikers has been producing results, but there’s likely to be a slight personnel change for the trip to Arbroath this weekend.

The most likely switch is Jamie Walker coming in for Gary Mackay-Steven in the attacking midfield role.

After an absolute sitter against the Dark Blues, Mackay-Steven wasn't at his best last Saturday.

By contrast, Walker came off the bench and scored to make the game safe for the hosts. His recent substitute cameos have been effective and there’s not much more he could have done to force himself back into the starting lineup.

Liam Boyce’s partner remains in hospital ahead of giving birth to their son, so his involvement may depend on developments there, but he’ll likely line up alongside Armand Gnanduillet in attack unless Boyce Jnr decides to make his entrance.

The rest of the team is likely to be along similar lines, with Neilson set to rotate from next week.

Craig Gordon, Michael Smith and Boyce will be away on international duty with Hears in Scottish Cup action against Brora Rangers next Tuesday night before hosting Queen of the South in the Championship.

Predicted Hearts team: Gordon, Smith, Halkett, Popescu, Kingsley, Irving, McEneff, Halliday, Walker, Boyce, Gnanduillet.
