Hearts team news v Ayr United as Robbie Neilson sticks with two strikers

It's another unchanged side for Hearts this afternoon and just the second time Robbie Neilson has named one during his second stint in charge.

The C hampionship leaders can extend their lead at the top of the table to 16 points with a win over Ayr United this afternoon.

A change of shape worked against Dundee last weekend and Neilson sees non reason to deviate from that following their 2-1 win.

Liam Boyce and Armand Gnanduillet partner each other in attack once again while the diamond shape in midfield remains.

Andy Irving will operate at the base with Aaron McEneff and Andy Halliday ahead of him and Gary Mackay-Steven spearheading the four at the tip.

The defence is along usual lines, but there 's a change on the bench.

Peter Haring is suspended after his short cameo last Saturday was cut short with a straight red card. Elliott Frear takes his place.

Captain Steven Naismith was touch and go in terms of fitness and he's been left out to ensure he fully recovers with a busier schedule on the hoirzon for Hearts over the next couple of weeks.,

Hearts: Gordon, Smith, Halkett, Popescu, Kingsley, Irving, McEneff, Halliday, Mackay-Steven, Boyce, Gnanduillet.

Subs: Stewart: White, Berra, Walker, Frear, Kastaneer, Henderson.
