Hearts star Orestis Kiomourtzoglou on his start to life at Tynecastle after summer transfer

Orestis Kiomourtzoglou believes his start to life at Hearts has been fine - but knows he can perform much better.

Robbie Neilson snapped up the midfielder in the summer and he's had a mainstay role in his line-up. It's been a hectic first part of the campaign for the capital club who have been juggling domestic matters with Europa Conference League group stage football. Add in the big injury list in Gorgie and it has been a tiring first period.

The World Cup break has come at the perfect time for the Jambos as the players get the chance to rest up and recover before returning to training in a bid to hit the ground running and secure third spot once against behind Celtic and Rangers and get another European adventure. Kio is looking forward to coming back fresh and ready to rock and will give everything between now and the summer in a bid to bring success to to Tynecastle.

Speaking to Edinburgh Evening News, he said: “I can improve, of course. Everyone can improve, all the time. But I'll be looking to come back from the holiday and play a bit better.

“I think I've played quite OK, otherwise I wouldn't have been playing so much. Because otherwise the coach would be saying "ah, not so good" and then I'd be sitting on the bench.

“It's difficult because I don't like to talk so much about myself. I like other guys to talk about me. I'm not the boss, it's the gaffer and he's the one who decides to play us.

“We've all been given an individual programme to train by ourselves in terms of recovering the body. I'm looking to keep my head clear, come back fresh and give everything between now and the end of the season.”
