Hearts' season opener away to Aberdeen at Pittdorie could be put back 24 hours

Hearts’ opening game of the season will be put back 24 hours if opponents Aberdeen get the result they want in Europe.

The Scottish Premiership fixtures were released this morning and the Jambos were handed a trip to Pittdorie to start their campaign.

However, the Dons are in European action against RoPS Rovaniemi of Finland and should they win over two-legs, their second round tie against either Fola Esch of Luxembourg or Georgian side Chikhura Sachkhere will mean will play again just two days before the start of the season.

That would see their clash agains Hearts moved back 24 hours to Sunday 4 August. The game had been picked for deferred coverage on BBC Alba on the Saturday.

Craig Levein’s team face newly promoted Ross County in their first home match of the new season the following weekend, and end the pre-split fixtures as they started them with a trip to Pittdorie next April.
