Hearts' Scottish Cup disaster mocked by ex-Hibs striker as he aims dig after Brora Rangers defeat

Former Hibs striker Tam Manus has aimed a cheeky dig at Hearts after their shock Scottish Cup exit to Brora Rangers.

The Tynecastle side were knocked out of the competition in the second round as the Highland outfit beat them 2-1.

It's one of the most remarkable results in the tournament's history as Brora haven't played a competitive match in months due to the suspension of the lower leagues. For Hearts, it's one of the worst results in their existence.

Hearts fans were furious at the final whistle and the unbelievable match sent Scottish football into meltdown on social media.

The Edinburgh derby is the kind of rivalry where one club revels in the other's misery and on this occasion it was Hibs' turn.

And Former Easter Road forward McManus made sure to mock the Jambos for the humiliating result.

He said: "Thought there might have been an upset tonight in the Scottish Cup. But wasn’t to be Brora Rangers managed to just squeeze past Hearts."

Robbie Neilson admitted he would need to take a long hard look at himself after the disastrous performance.

He said: “We can’t accept that tonight. It’s an embarrassment for the football club. For all of us involved, the standards aren’t good enough. We should not be coming here and losing games, no matter how many shots we have on target. It doesn’t matter because we didn’t put the ball in the net.

“I knew when I came in here that we were turning round a ship that was heading in the wrong direction. It had won three wins out of 30 in the Premier League. We’re turned it around in areas but there’s still a lot of work to do here. We could see that tonight. There’s still remnants of standards not being good enough.

“Everyone has to question themselves. It’s part of Hearts. I’m the head coach so I have to question myself about what I’m doing, about what we’re doing in training and what we’re doing in matches because that’s not good enough. We spoke about it in the dressing room at length, myself included, and it’s got to be better. We can’t accept it.”
