Hearts' record league goalscorer John Robertson inducted in to Scottish Football Hall of Fame

Hearts legend John Robertson was last night inducted in to the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

Robbo spent nearly two decades at Tynecastle and became Hearts’ record league goalscorer with 214.

It’s his record against city rivals Hibs that Jambos love him for though. He netted 27 times in Edinburgh derbies after the Easter Road club passed up the chance to sign him as a schoolboy.

Robertson, who suffered the heartache of losing the league title on the final day of the 1985/86 season, finally got his hands on silverware in 1998 when Hearts won the Scottish Cup – their first trophy for 36 years.

He returned to club to manage them in 2004 after Craig Levein departed for Leicester. Despite being a popular choice, he lasted only until the end of the season before being sacked by new owner Vladmimir Romanov.

After spells in charge of Ross County, Livingston and Derry City, he had stints as a striker coach with Kilmarnock and Dundee United, before taking on the same role at Tynecastle on non-contract basis in March 2010.

He then took charge of East Fife for a couple of years before eventually returning to Hearts as business development manager, but the chance to return to the dugout proved too tempting when Inverness came calling for him once again in June 2017.

Robertson was presented with his award by former strike partner Sandy Clarke.

Ex-Hearts boss Tommy McLean, Colin Stein, Joe Harper, Patsy Gallacher and Paul Sturrock were also inducted.
