Heart of Midlothian and Kilmarnock have reached an agreement for Derek McInnes to move to Tynecastle.
Neil Critchley was sacked at the end of April following a 1-0 defeat to Dundee in the first round of Scottish Premiership post-split fixtures.
Liam Fox has taken interim charge in Gorgie since, although a permanent Critchley successor looks to have been found, with McInnes due to move to the capital over the summer.

The 53-year-old has confirmed that an agreement has been reached between Hearts and Kilmarnock, but that he will stay in his role at Rugby Park for his current side's final two games of the campaign against Motherwell and, coincidentally, his future employers.
"I think sometimes these things come along in life and I've always been open with the club,” said McInnes.
"I'm really enjoying my time here and until such time something maybe can make you think twice about that, about maybe trying something else, you just concentrate on the job at hand.
"I was informed yesterday that the club's had reached agreement and talks are ongoing with that. But I've also reiterated to the club today that I intend to be here for the last two games and I need to make sure that that message is loud and clear to my players, to everybody: we deal with what's in front of us now – and we can pick up on the week after."
