A poor day for the hosts resulted in a disappointing defeat to Rangers in their first Ladbrokes Premiership post-split fixture. Here’s how the home players rated.
Zdenek Zlamal – No chance with any of the goals, two good late saves to keep it at three. 7
Michael Smith – Probably Hearts’ best player, with little protection in front of him on the right. 7
Bobby Burns – Tried to stick to his task but had a tough afternoon against Candeias and Tavernier. 5
John Souttar – Wasn’t able to get Hearts moving forward from the back, important block to prevent a fourth goal. 6
Christophe Berra – No glaring errors, but far from a dominant display either. 6
Oliver Bozanic – Culpable for the second goal after being caught in possession in his own half. 5
Olly Lee – Like the rest of Hearts’ midfield, struggled to cope with Rangers’ movement and physicality and made little impact. 5
Arnaud Djoum – Better in possession than his midfield partners, but not his best day either. 6
Jake Mulraney – Poor first half, improved after the break with a couple of good crosses, one of which lead to MacLean’s goal. 6
Craig Wighton – Had two good chances, one of which he was unlucky not to score with but otherwise lightweight. 6
Uche Ikpeazu – Lack of awareness when in possession and too interested in drawing fouls. 6
Steven MacLean – Good instincts had him in the right place to score a decent header. 6
Harry Cochrane – Brought some badly needed composure to Hearts’ midfield after coming on. 6
Clevid Dikamona - Little time. 5
