Hearts player ratings as Gary Mackay-Steven shines to blow Inverness away

It was job done by half-time for Hearts as they rounded off their home fixtures by easing past Inverness CT.

A Gary Mackay-Steven double either side of an Aaron McEneff strike proved to be enough for a 3-0 win against their play-off chasing opponents.

Robbie Neilson's faith in GMS was repaid with his best display in maroon and while there were no more goals after half-time for the hosts, they could have racked up one or two more.

Here's how they rated out of ten.

Craig Gordon: Mostly catching practice for the Hearts 'keeper this afternoon. 6

Michael Smith: Nothing over complicated and mopped up well when required. 7

Craig Halkett: Dealt with Todorov well and did the simple stuff next to Souttar. 7

John Souttar: Strolled it. 7

Shay Logan: Got forward to good effect and linked well with Mackay-Steven. 7

Andy Halliday: Was more disciplined after the break but defended pretty well. 6

Peter Haring: Strong and combative, giving the likes of McEneff and Boyce a base to play from before he had to go off. 6

Aaron McEneff: Willingness to get into the box rewarded with a goal. Had to play differently when Haring went off. 7

Gary Mackay-Steven: Best game in maroon. Direct, tricky and a real goal threat. The player Hearts fans hoped they'd signed in January. 8

Liam Boyce: Made Hearts tick, cleverly finding pockets of space and using his body plus quick feet to make things happen. 8

Armand Gnanduillet: Could have scored on another day but did plenty of unselfish work up front. 6

Subs

Andy Irving: Kept it calm and composed on the ball after replacing Peter Haring. 6

Steven Naismith: Used his experience and talked Pollock through his debut. 5

Finlay Pollock: Full of enthusiasm and running on a big day for the teen. 5
