Hearts news headlines featuring significant SPFL league reconstruction update

Here's a round-up of the biggest Hearts news stories on the evening of Thursday, 11 June.

Significant reconstruction update

So, it seems 14-10-10-10 is back on the table.

The SPFL released a statement earlier on Thursday saying that they believed there was sufficient support for the league structure, and the plan would be put to an indicative vote as a result.

All 42 clubs have been asked to outline their position by 10am on Monday.

If there's enough backing the plan will then be included in a "detailed formal resolution".

Doncaster said: “Now that 41 out of 42 clubs have responded, it is clear that there is enough support for a permanent 14-10-10-10 structure to merit a second consultation stage and we have written to clubs asking for an indicative ‘vote’ on whether that is something they would vote in favour of if it was included in a detailed formal resolution.

“It’s important to underline that this is not a binding vote and is intended only to steer the board on whether to put forward a formal resolution for voting on, or not.”

Hickey misses out on award

Aaron Hickey has enjoyed an excellent season for Hearts – one of the rare bright spots in a dismal campaign.

However his performances weren't rewarded with an SFWA Young Player of the Year Award, with the prize instead going to Lewis Ferguson of Aberdeen.

Ali McCann of St Johnstone and Allan Campbell from Motherwell were also nominated for the award.

Hickey played 30 times for the Jambos last season, netting a dramatic late winner in the victory over city rivals Hibs.

The teenager has been subject to some serious transfer speculation in recent weeks, with big guns Bayern Munich among those said to be interested.

We reported earlier this week how Italian giants Lazio had submitted an offer in a bid to land his signature.

Levein's 77 signings assessed

Craig Levein has now departed Hearts, so what better time to look back at the 77 first team players he brought to the club in his role as Director of Football.

Levein made some excellent moves in the transfer market while at the club, but there also a number he'd probably rather forget.

Granted, not all were his picks, but they were all signed under his stewardship.

Take a look at our round-up, and we're pretty sure there'll be a fair few to have slipped your mind.
