Hearts news headlines as Craig Halkett urges patience and Aaron Hickey's Italian pay packet is revealed

Here are your Hearts headlines for Monday 12 October

Halkett’s game of patience

Craig Halkett says Hearts were given a reminder by Cowdenbeath that they’ll have to be patient on occasion this season.

The stubborn League Two outfit made the Jambos work for their 1-0 Betfred Cup victory at the weekend.

And goalscorer Halkett took it as a timely reminder that they won't just turn up and blow teams away every week this season.

MacPhee had Boyce on penalty notice

Liam Boyce described netting Northern Ireland's winning penalty against Bosnia last week as the best moment of his international career.

The Hearts striker was brought on seconds before the end of extra-time for the shoot-out.

And he revealed that had been the plan all along after former Tynecastle assistant Austin MacPhee had made them practice relentlessly so that it was automatic when the time came to step up.

Hickey’s Serie A salary

Hearts will eventually benefit to the tune of around £1.8million, but how much healthier will Aaron Hickey's bank balance be after his switch to Bologna.

The teenager made the move to Italy last month after protracted negotiations between the two clubs.

And with the salaries of players plying their trade on the peninsula now published, his weekly wage is now out in the public domain.
