Hearts news headlines as Bairns are brushed aside and Aaron Hickey transfer saga requires renewed urgency

Here are your Hearts headlines for Tuesday 22 September

Hearts brush Bairns aside

The Jambos made it two friendly wins in four days with a 3-0 win over Falkirk at Oriam.

Liam Boyce, Jamie Walker and Craig Wighton were on the scoresheet for Robbie Neilson’s men.

But it was Peter Haring’s second-half cameo as a substitute that was most significant, the Austrian making his first appearance for the club for 16  months.

Pete and Naisy's post-match verdict

The comeback kids were talking after brief run outs this afternoon.

Haring was understandably delighted after 16 months of injury hell, while Naismith confirmed he should be fine for the start of the season and gave his first impressions of the new additions.

What’s Neilson’s strongest team?

The last two games have given a clearer indication of how the Hearts boss will likely shape up when the competitive action starts.

A 4-2-3-1 seems to suit the players he has best, with the emphasis being on width and getting crosses into the box.

Hickey’s Bologna debut chance?

The deal has been on the verge of completion for two weeks now since Hickey flew out to do his medical, but things might have to speed up now.

First choice left back Mitchell Dijks was sent off in their season opener against AC Milan at the San Siro.

Given the plan was to use Hickey as back-up to the Dutchman, Sinisa Mihajlovic may be asking what’s taking so long in order to get Hickey signed up before next Monday’s meeting with Parma.
