Hearts' matchday legends tour cancelled due to increasing coronavirus threat

The Hearts legends stadium tour has been cancelled due to the increasing coronavirus threat.

Hearts Heritage has announced that all access to "players areas" at Tynecastle has been restricted due to the outbreak.

The legends tour, led by Jummy Sandison, was due to take place before the match with Ross County on Saturday, 21 March. The tour would give fans a "behind the scenes" guided tour, exclusive access to the main stand, media suite, dugout and dressing rooms along with a tour around the Heart of Midlothian Museum.

However, it has now been confirmed that the event won't take place this month and information on rescheduled dates will be announced.

A statement from Hearts Heritage said: "In light of the rapidly changing situation with the COVID-19 virus, the Club has decided at this point to restrict all access to players areas within the stadium on a match day.

"Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this causes, we will be rescheduling the tour for a future match day once the coronavirus alerts have abated.

"We will be in touch with future legends tour dates and information on how to arrange your booking transfer."

Edinburgh Live reported earlier on Thursday that Hearts and Hibs games are set to be closed off to fans as the Scottish Government announce that all mass gatherings should be cancelled.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that any gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled from Monday.
