Hearts linked with move for ex Inverness Caley Thistle and Ipswich Town winger but face competition

Hearts are being linked with a move for ex Inverness Caley Thistle winger Jordan Roberts.

Robbie Neilson is reportedly keen to bring the wide-man to Tynecastle ahead of the new Scottish Championship season.

The 26-year-old spent part of last season on loan at Gillingham from Ipswich Town, and they are also believed to be interested in a permanent deal.

According to the Daily Record, Salford, Doncaster and Scunthorpe are watching the situation closely.

Roberts' Ipswich contract has now expired and it seems Hearts could face some competition if they are to land the free agent.

He played for Inverness under John Hughes in the 2015/16 Scottish Premiership season.

Neilson is clearly keen to add width to his squad, and it emerged last week he had taken former Motherwell winger Elliott Frear on trial.
