Hearts lineup v Ayr United predicted with duo set for Championship debuts

There’s almost a full Hearts squad to pick from for the visit to Ayr United.

The league leaders head to Somerset Park seeking to move 12 points clear at the top of the Championship again with a win.

And Robbie Neilson has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game.

Long-term absentees Jamie Brandon and John Souttar are out, although the latter has stepped up his training this week.

Josh Ginnelly is another that won’t be seen again this season, but there could be a debut for his replacement, Gervane Kastaneer, who arrived on deadline day from Coventry City.

The winger has trained all week and is ready to play if selected.

Fellow new signing Aaron McEneff is fit too, although hasn’t played competitive since the beginning of December, so a place on the bench is perhaps more likely for the 25-year-old.

Armand Gnanduillet is pushing for a start after coming off the bench twice in his last two games as Hearts look to build up his match fitness.

Predicted Hearts team: Gordon, Smith, Halkett, Popescu, Kingsley, Halliday, Irving, Kastaneer, Walker, Mackay-Steven, Boyce.
