Hearts learn Europa Conference League fate as they face tough draw including Fiorentina

Hearts have landed a clash with Serie A outfit Fiorentina as they discovered their Europa Conference League opponents.

Robbie Neilson's men went into their Europa League play-off showdown with FC Zurich knowing they'd be guaranteed six games in tournament proper football, and after last night's 1-0 defeat that meant a 3-1 aggregate loss, it was Europe's third tier competition that would hold their European adventure.

The Jambos played brilliantly in the first period as they peppered the Swiss champions' goal, but the visitors held out and when Jorge Grant was sent packing for a second yellow card for simulation early in the second period, you knew it wasn't going to be the night the sell-out Tynecastle faithful had planned. It wasn't without drama with BBC Scotland footage going off air for an extended period that resulted in viewers missing the FC Zurich goal in the capital. Craig Gordon was also struck by a missile in unsavoury scenes in overall a night to forget for the Gorgie side.

However, a big European campaign awaits and for many of the Hearts players and fans this is new territory.

The capital club will feature in Group A and face Istanbul Basaksehir as well as Fiotentina and RFS

Fixtures will be confirmed in due course with UEFA still to release official confirmation.
