Hearts' Jamie Walker reminds Jambos of 'big club' responsibility as he laments Morton stutter

Jamie Walker insisted ”Hearts should not be held at home by Greenock Morton” as the Jambos midfielder castigated another stuttering performance by the Championship leaders.

Walker’s 50th goal in maroon was not enough to take all three points from a gritty contest at Tynecastle as Robbie Neilson’s side were forced to come from behind for the second straight game to savage a point after Craig McGuffie’s opener.

The hosts peppered the Ton goal with 26 shots raining down on goal to no avail, meaning the Gorgie outfit have already dropped ten points this year alone.

The result also allowed chasers Dunfermline to cut Hearts' lead at the top of the division to nine points with a game in hand over the Capital club.

It was not good enough for Walker, who conceded his milestone strike had been overshadowed by yet another poor showing as he took aim at a “lack of pride” in the Jambos’ recent performances.

And he reminded his teammates the onus was on them to provide the creative spark that would allow them to finish their Premiership return bid with a flourish.

“We are a big football club and should be winning most matches in this league,” he lamented after the game.

“It is up to the boys to have pride in themselves to take the game by the scruff of the neck and make things happen.”

“We are Heart of Midlothian and we shouldn’t be drawing against Morton at Tynecastle.

“We played well in spells but it was a disappointing result and we need to do better.

“We had an opportunity to really pull away at the top of the league in the least couple of weeks and we haven’t taken that so we need to get back into training and make amends in the next game.”
