Hearts 'interested' in Ross County playmaker Yan Dhanda

Hearts are interested in Ross County playmaker Yan Dhanda.

However, the Tynecastle side may need to wait a while yet before the ex-Liverpool academy product turns out in maroon.

Social media rumours have been in overdrive this weekend linking the 25-year-old with a move to Gorgie.

Edinburgh Evening News reports Hearts' interest is concrete in the attacking midfielder.

However, the outlet states that a deal is unlikely to happen in this window.

Dhanda signed for the Staggies in the summer of 2022 under Malky Mackay and has been a standout for the Highland side in the Premiership since.

He is out of contract in Dingwall this summer, with numerous clubs north and south of the border registering an interest.

This report claims County are keen to hold on to Dhanda so he can help them in their survival bid this season.

So any move away from the Highlands, despite now being free to sign a pre-contract elsewhere, looks set to happen in the summer.

Dhanda recently scored a stunning free-kick against Hearts in a 2-2 draw between the teams at Tynecastle.

Hearts also want a right-back to bolster that area of their defence.

Meanwhile, Hearts have signed highly-rated teenager Lennon Thompson for the club's B team.

The 19-year-old has joined the Wee Jambos on a deal until the end of the season.

A former product of the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy, the defensive midfielder recently impressed during a short trial with the Gorgie side.

He has now officially signed and will ply his trade for the B team.

B team Head coach Liam Fox said:  “Lennon came on a two-week trial and has shown up really well. So, we as a club have given him the opportunity until the summer to earn himself a long-term deal.

“He has shown a good attitude, and he has some good qualities. He can play in the middle of the park or in defence, so he has some versatility about him. The ball is in his court now to try and force his way into the B Team, but we’re delighted to have him here."
