Hearts injury update as Robbie Neilson without number of key stars for Kilmarnock return

Hearts will be without a number of top team stars for the Premiership return against Kilmarnock this weekend.

Robbie Neilson has had to contend with injuries to key personnel in the first part of the campaign and he will again have to make do without a core selection of his troops for the Tynecastle clash on Saturday report Edinburgh Evening News. Australia World Cup star Kye Rowles misses out through suspension while Stephen Humphrys is still struggling with an ankle knock.

Peter Haring has been unable to train freely since suffering concussion against Aberdeen and won't be rushed back into action.Gary Mackay-Steven also remains sidelined while Beni Baningime and Liam Boyce are long-term absentees. It's not all doom and gloom in Gorgie with Stephen Kingsley and Craig Halkett both fit and ready.

Nathaniel Atkinson and Cammy Devlin are due to report back to the training ground on Thursday after some time off following their time in Qatar with the Socceroos.

The capital club go into the return in fifth position - four points behind Aberdeen and Jim Goodwin in the race to finish best of the rest behind Celtic and Rangers.

Neilson and Co have eyes on another European adventure after tasting Europa Conference League group stage football this year and will have eyes on putting a run of form together starting with Derek McInnes' men.

They then face Dundee United and St Johnstone before an Edinburgh derby showdown with rivals Hibs on January 2.
