Hearts goalkeeper joins Hamilton Accies on emergency loan after star's injury blow

Hamilton Accies have announced the signing of young Hearts goalkeeper Liam McFarlane on a seven-day emergency loan after first choice goalkeeper Ryan Fulton was ruled out through injury.

The New Douglas Park side are in Championship play-off action at Alloa Athletic tonight and it is a big blow ahead of their vital clash, with understudy Jamie Smith starting in goal.

McFarlane starts on the bench.

The club revelaed they have been granted special permission by the SPFL to bring the 18-year-old in ahead of their bid to stay in the division.

They tweeted: "We have signed 18-year-old goalkeeper Liam McFarlane from Hearts on a seven day emergency loan, after special permission was granted by the SPFL. Our thanks to Hearts for their assistance.

Accies survived automatic relegation by the skin of their teeth on Friday night when a 0-0 draw saw them head into the play-offs from Cove Rangers, who will now spend next season in League One.

Former Accies boss Brian Rice and his Wasps side stand between the South Lanarkshire side and a place in next week's play-off final against either Falkirk or Airdrie, who are also in action tonight.

The Accies line up is as follows: J Smith, O'Reilly, Spence, Martin, Zanatta, McGowan, Mimnaugh, Winter, C Smith, Tumilty, Owens.
