Hearts’ scheduled friendly with Linlithgow Rose will go ahead despite positive Covid test results.
The Tynecastle club confirmed yesterday that five people including players and coaching staff had the virus and were having to self isolate.
That meant last night’s arranged friendly against Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park had to be scrapped, with today’s game also in doubt.
But the Jambos will now take on the East of Scotland Premier League side at Prestonfield (kick-off 3pm).
What sort of squad Robbie Neilson names for the match remains to be seen, and the Scottish football Joint Response Group is still to discuss any potential halt to Hearts training after yesterday’s outbreak.
The Premiership new boys kick off their league campaign at home to Celtic on 31 July.
A Hearts statement on the positives read: “Five members of Hearts’ football department are now self-isolating in line with COVID-19 guidelines after returning positive lateral flow and PCR tests.
“The club immediately contacted the relevant football authorities upon confirmation of each positive test and it continues to follow protocols to the highest of standards.”
A limited number of supporters are permitted to attend the game this afternoon with the West Lothian club asking that fans allow extra time to get to the ground as contact details will be needed and temperature checks carried out.
