Hearts get right back transfer boost after SPFL extends loan window for lower league clubs

Hearts have been given a transfer boost after the SPFL extended the loan window until the end of March.

And the move is thought to be a clear indication that Leagues One and Two are likely to be restarted in the coming weeks.

Previously, clubs outside the top flight had until the end of February to complete any loan deals from Scottish clubs.

But they now have until the 31st of this month to make temporary additions.

That could help Hearts in their search for right back cover.

Robbie Neilson wants another option to provide competition for Michael Smith after an injury to usual understudy Jamie Brandon.

Teenager Cammy Logan is on loan at Cove Rangers and likely to stay there with the prospect of League One resuming.

Neilson revealed the club had made an enquiry to a Premiership side about taking one of their right backs on loan, but wasn’t sure there was time to do a deal given their delayed response.

However, with an extra four weeks now available in which to negotiate, a mover could now be a possibility.

An update from the SFA on the plan of action for League One and Two is expected later today, and it’s understood that they will be given the go ahead to at least resume training, according to Lanakrshire Live.

However, completing the originally scheduled 27-game season now appears unrealistic and an even more truncated campaign could be the more practical solution.
