Hearts fans relive beating Rangers in 1998 Scottish Cup Final

May 16th 1998 is a date etched in the memory of every Hearts fan.

A Rangers team featuring the likes of Brian Laudrup and Rino Gattuso were beaten 2-1 at Celtic Park, handing the Jambos their first Scottish Cup in 42 years.

From Colin Cameron's early penalty to "Amoruso lets it run", it was a day that no Hearts fan could ever forget.

22 years on, supporters were treated to a replay of the famous final when the William Hill Scottish Cup social media team shared footage of the entire match on Facebook and YouTube.

Fans watched as if the game was live, and the comments below give an idea of the emotions that were stirred up.

PRE-MATCH

@SeeBeeGee1: "Wondering if I'll spend the last ten minutes watching play through my fingers and staring the face out of my watch as time stood still again. Happy ending though!!!"

@AlanMeikle: "Here we go then, for two generations of Hearts supporters, the best day of our lives. 1998 is why I don't grudge some good mates their 2016. What a day/week/month!"

@shazxraz: "I've got a good feeling we might win this game. Just a wee hunch"

MATCH

@ViewfromGorgie: "Easy to forget through the years... but how good was @paulr1tchie in the '98 final?"

@captainjamtart: "If I make it through this to the end withoot greeting it'll be a miracle, Mon the Famous"

@shazxraz: "Why am I nervous now after Ally just scored there?"

@Trotski16: "I'm actually getting nervous here. F*** sake."

Hearts captain Gary Locke (left) and stand-in skipper Steve Fulton lift the Scottish Cup (SNS Group)

@kbakircioglu: "Man, that roar at the full time whistle"

@IanW1874: "That was great viewing. I was at the game but can remember very little about it.

"As a 6-year-old I didn't really understand what was going on or what that result meant but even I got nervous watching back the last 10 minutes. Stevie Fulton and David Weir both absolutely superb."

@Trotski16: "Legends, every single one of them. What a day. First time I've seen it in full since '98.

"We were unreal at the back but really should have scored more. What a day, what a weekend."

@serialsockthief: “Um, why are you crying Mummmeh?” “Because I’m very happy. Happy tears, not sad ones...don’t worry. That was a really really happy day. The best.”

@shazxraz: "Well that was a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon"
