Hearts fans launch Scottish Cup final donation scheme to Foundation of Hearts to offset ticket revenue hit

Hearts fans are donating what they would have spent on a Scottish Cup final ticket to the Foundation of Hearts instead.

After disposing of city rivals Hibs at Hampden at the end of October, Robbie Neilson will lead his side out for the showpiece occasion against Celtic and just over two weeks' time.

Despite a vaccine on the cusp of being rolled out and fans permitted in limited numbers for some English games, the national stadium will be empty on 20 December due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Hearts already lost out on around £500,000 due to the semi-finals being played behind closed doors, and were set to take another similar hit with the final being off limits to punters as well, based on average ticket prices of £30/20 for adults and £25/£15 for concessions.

However, fans are stepping up yet again and donating what they would have spent on a ticket (plus travel, food etc.) to the Foundation of Hearts, who’s monthly contributions already boost club coffers to the tune of around £150,000 per month.

In total, pledgers have raised over £11million.

Given ticket allocation would have likely been limited to around 20,000 under normal circumstances, the donation scheme could very well end up raising more money than traditional cup final ticket sales would have.

Existing pledgers can make their donation as a separate contribution to their monthly pledge by clicking here.

If not an existing pledger, a one-off donation can be made here.
