Hearts face Inverness in Premier Sports Cup marquee group as Robbie Neilson's side face long trips north

Hearts have been drawn against Inverness in the League Cup for the third year in a row as the groups are decided.

The tournament, renamed the Premier Sports Cup from this year on, gets under way on the weekend of July 10, the day before Euro 2020 concludes.

On Friday the draw was made for the regionalised group stage though with some geographical quirks thrown into the mix.

Dunfermline were placed in the south section with Livingston in the north, despite the former being based around 20 miles further north.

And Hearts were placed in a different section to Edinburgh City which saw them face yet another trip up to Inverness.

Robbie Neilson's side will also face Peterhead and Cove Rangers as they rack up the miles in their campaign.

Elsewhere there's a tasty looking group with St Mirren, Dunfermline and Partick Thistle while relegated Kilmarnock face Morton and Clyde.
