Hearts could mount legal challenge if early finish sees them relegated

Hearts could be set to launch a legal challenge if they are relegated.

With the possibility of an early end to the campaign resulting in relegation for Daniel Stendel's side, it's being reported that Hearts will this week hold a crisis meeting to discuss their response.

The Jambos are currently bottom of the league and four points behind 11th-placed Hamilton Accies.

Record Sport is today reporting that the meeting will see them "discuss options including a potential legal fight if an early end to the Ladbrokes Premiership season sees them relegated to the Championship."

It is believed that the UK Government may this week decide to end the season with the current standings in place.

In his Record Sport column yesterday, Chris Sutton said: "There would be outcry for the teams who get relegation, but I’m sorry, that’s just the way it is.

"Hearts would need to go down.

"I’m sure Ann Budge would be on to the lawyers but they have been the worst side in Scotland this season and as it stands they would deserve to go down."
