Hearts confirm pre-contract signing of Livingston captain Craig Halkett

Livingston captain Craig Halkett will  leave the club at the end of the season after SPFL Premiership rivals Hearts announced a pre-contract agreement with the 23-year-old defender.

Halkett has been a key player in Livingston's rise from League One to the Premiership and has skippered the side in each of the last two seasons.

The centre-back will sign a three-year deal with the Jambos once his Livi contract expires in the summer.

The former Rangers youngster has made 144 appearances for the West Lothian side, netting 15 times.

Speaking to the official Hearts website, manager Craig Levein said: “I’m delighted that Craig has committed to signing for Hearts.

“He’s a talented player and, at 23-years-old, is at an age where he can continue to develop and progress.

“This club is the right place for him to do so and I look forward to welcoming him in the summer.”
