Hearts confirm Ben Woodburn signing as Liverpool forward pens loan deal

Hearts have confirmed the signing of Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn on a season long loan deal.

Robbie Neilson has been chasing the Wales starlet for weeks as he seeks to add pace and directness to his forward line.

He confirmed talks with Woodburn were progressing and said over the weekend that Liverpool has sanctioned a move.

Reports earlier on Monday suggested he was set to undergo a medical ahead of a switch to Tynecastle.

And Hearts have now confirmed the deal with Woodburn, Liverpool's youngest ever goalscorer, joining on an initial deal until the end of the season.

Woodburn's contract at Anfield expires at the end of this season so there is the possibility to extend his stay if he hits the ground running.

Hearts would owe Liverpool a compensation fee if they wanted to sign him permanently but he could extend his deal at Anfield and prolong his loan stay.

Woodburn, who has ten caps for Wales and 11 senior appearances for Liverpool, could make his debut for Hearts against Dundee United this weekend.
