Hearts Championship title presentation plans revealed pending Scottish Cup results

Hearts will be presented with the Championship trophy after their final home game of the season if Scottish Cup results allow.

Robbie Neilson ’s team are set to welcome Neil McCann’s Inverness Caledonian Thistle to Tynecastle on Saturday 17 April, and will get their hands on the silverware after full-time.

However, that depends on the outcome this weekend’s Scottish Cup fourth round tie between the Highlanders and St Mirren.

If the Buddies win, then the league fixture in Gorgie will go ahead as planned the following week.

If Inverness progress to the quarter-finals however, the party will be on hold and an alternative date will have to be found.

The match would in all likelihood be moved to the midweek and the trophy presented then, rather than doing so after the final league game of the season away to Raith Rovers on a Friday night.

Regardless, it will be done in an empty stadium.

The club remain in talks with the SPFL about arrangements and what the presentation will involve.

They are also speaking to broadcasters, with the Daily Record reporting that both the BBC and Sky are keen to show the match and subsequent trophy handover.

The Beeb have already shown their two allocated Hearts home games for the season - their opening day demolition of Dundee and last Friday night’s 6-0 annihilation of Alloa.

That results set up their coronation the following day, which was confirmed after Dundee and Raith Rovers could only draw.

Hearts have a free weekend before heading to Cappielow to take on Greenock Morton a week on Tuesday.
