Hearts boss Robbie Neilson says he likes what he sees from new signing already

Hearts new boy Josh Ginnelly has been wasting no time in impressing his new boss.

Tynecastle manager Robbie Neilson says he likes what he sees from the winger after he set up Jamie Walker's goal in the 2-1 friendly win against St Mirren this afternoon.

Ginnelly was only unveiled as a Hearts player this morning after joining from Preston North End on-loan, and he was clearly keen to make an early impression in a maroon jersey.

Neilson says he was pleased with the friendly, and pointed to the positives he can take from the run-out.

He told Hearts TV : “It was a good game. I’m delighted with the way we played at, especially in the first half.

“I thought we moved the ball very well, scored two good goals and, again, just good to get some game-time.

“He (Josh) did great. I was really pleased with him. He’s not trained a lot this season and that’s the first game he’s played as well so a wee bit of rustiness there but I thought he looked very sharp today.

“He created the second goal for us by doing exactly what we want him to do; skipping by somebody and a great delivery. It’s a good start for him.

“We want to get pace out in the wide areas and we’ve managed to get three in to give us that and they all did very well today.”
