Hearts boss Robbie Neilson named Championship Manager of the Month for December

Robbie Neilson has been crowned SPFL Scottish Championship Manager of the Month, presented by Glen's Vodka for December.

The Hearts boss scooped the gong after leading the Tynecastle side to four wins from their four league games.

Morton were defeated 2-0 at Cappielow at the start of the month thanks to a Jamie Walker double.

Queen of the South were then battered 6-1 in Gorgie as Neilson's team ramped things up ahead of their Scottish Cup final date with Celtic.

They agonisingly lost on penalties after a 3-3 draw at Hampden, but responded with another three points at home to Ayr United six days later, racking up the goals again in a 5-3 win.

Alloa were then beaten 3-1 to take the goal tally up to 16 - an average of four a game - and finish 2020 in excellent form.

“It’s nice to get these things but it’s as much about the players as anything else," said Neilson. "They’ve earned it.

“They had a really good month in December and won all their league games, which is all you can ask for.

“The focus now is on getting back to winning ways and that starts on Saturday against Alloa.”

2021 brought disappointment when Dundee ran out 301 winners at Dens before a scheduled Scottish Cup tie against Camelon on Brora Rangers, then the Championship meeting with challengers Dunfermline were postponed.
