Hearts announce 11 player departures as club explain Andy Irving state of play

Premiership returnees Hearts have announced 11 players will be leaving the club in the coming days after the expiration of their contracts.

The Gorgie club are clearing the decks to allow for top-flight calibre signings with manager Robbie Neilson previously admitting there are likely to be more 'outs' than 'ins' at Tynecastle this summer.

Left-back Aidy White, goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal and winger Elliott Frear have already left the club, as have Christophe Berra, who had signed a pre-contact with Raith Rovers, and expected departure Harry Cochrane.

Meanwhile Olly Lee, Colin Doyle, Lewis Moore and Craig Wighton will all exit Edinburgh on June 9, with Gervane Kastaneer also set to return to parent club Coventry City when his loan deal expires.

But one player's departure has not yet been confirmed - homegrown midfielder Andy Irving.

The playmaker has been a revelation in recent seasons and one of the few shining lights of a campaign fans would like to forget despite accomplishing the ultimate goal of promotion.

He has been offered a contract by Hearts but has not yet accepted.

Irving has until June 14 to pen the new deal under FIFA regulations - after which he will become a free agent but interested clubs will be ordered to pay a development fee thought to be around £300k to seal a transfer.

Youth players Sean Ward and Leeroy Makarova are also leaving the club.
