Hearts and Rangers in united show of support as they plan special Marius Zaliukas and Fernando Ricksen tribute

Hearts have announced they and Rangers are planning a special tribute to two legends in a bid to raise funds to fight Motor Neurone Disease.

Both teams will remember Marius Zaliukas and Fernando Ricksen before kick-off with the Jambos and their Ibrox counterparts wearing warm-up shirts, in memory of the duo who lost their lives to the horrific disease.

Bucket collections will be taken in both the home and away ends to raise funds in the fight against MND.

Zaliukas is Hearts royalty but also starred for Rangers, while Ricksen was beloved at Ibrox during a trophy-laden stint that included a spell as captain of the Light Blues.

Hearts players will wear a T-shirt with Zaliukas' No.26, while Ricksen's former team will be wearing No.2 as they remember a pair of players who graced the Scottish Premiership with distinction.

The Gorgie side have also revealed that the general public can make £5 donation, by texting CUREMND on 70660.

Ricksen passed away in 2019, and Lithuania legend Zaliukas died in 2020, with both remembered fondly by those who they entertained over the years.
