Hearts and Rangers fans react to Andy Halliday joining the Tynecastle club on a two-year deal

The news that Andy Halliday joined Hearts on a two-year deal yesterday was met with positivity by the fans.

Robbie Neilson had been after another option in central midfield and managed to land one with European and big game experience after five years with Rangers.

Halliday’s attitude and competitiveness didn’t go unnoticed on previous visits to Tynecastle, and the Gorgie faithful are glad to have those qualities in a maroon shirt ahead of their assault on the Championship title.

And they made their feelings clear of social media in what was almost a universally positive reaction to the club’s announcement.

@SFotbaws: Great signing personally think he will do well and add that little bit of experience.

@welshy199008: Now this is the kind of signing I'm talking about! Tremendous work to get this done.

@Alistair1874: not overly excited for this but hopefully he will prove me wrong! Got a hearts jersey on so will get my support!

@Holmesly091: Brilliant cant wait to see him play.

However, there was also a deluge of well wishes from fans of former club Rangers.

@Motor_Ted: He's went from Glasgow's biggest club to Edinburgh's biggest. Best of luck Andy.

@RakeTuke: Good luck to Andy and Hearts. I’m sure he’ll put a shift in for the biggest club in Edinburgh.

@Daveybignose: Great move , to a fantastic football club. I say this as a Rangers fan.

@PRFC_55: One of our own! Will put a shift in and do well at Hearts when they run away with the Championship they shouldn’t be in anyway! All the best Andy once a bear always a bear!

@Ch110785: You've got a good one there! Andy deserves a chance and a club that will support his career. Good luck Andy but remember.... Once a bear always a bear!

@YodaOn Xbox: Raging we let Andy go one of the most versatile players in the league help us big time all over the pitch good luck Andy.
