Hearts and Rangers fans gave generously to MND Scotland at Sunday's Premiership meeting between the two clubs - raising over £24,000 in the process.
The two clubs have previously been affected by the insidious disease, saying goodbye to legendary figures in in recent years.
Jambos captain Marius Zaliukas, who also played for Gers in the 2014-15 season, passed away in October 2020 while Ibrox mourned the lost Fernando Ricksen a year earlier.
David Hagen, who turned out for both clubs in the 90s was another soul lost to motor neurone disease last year at the age of 47, while Hearts supporter Stevie Morris' moving testimony showed how devastating it can be.
And so both sets of fans stood united at the weekend, choosing to dedicate the match to raising funds for the charity that also emblazoned the home side's maroon shirts.
Collection buckets were stationed at entry points to all four stands while a campaign to text and donate to MND Scotland was also advertised before and during the game.
The sides warmed up wearing shirts bearing Ricksen and Zaliukas' squad numbers, 2 and 26.
And in the end the total raised from 'MND Scotland Day' reached £24,245.72.
The money will go towards research and care to help the lives of people with motor neurone disease and continue the search for a cure.
