Hearts and Partick v SPFL arbitration scheduled to get underway with legal debates to be heard

Hearts and Partick Thistle's respective relegations, and the circumstances surrounding them, are set to be examined as the Scottish FA arbitration tribunal gets underway today.

After a preliminary hearing on Friday things will now start proper with a decision hoped for next week, prior to the start of the Scottish Premiership season. However it is unclear exactly how long the case will take to resolve.

Both clubs say the relegations imposed after the SPFL league-ending resolution should be halted. Failing this they want a combined £10million in compensation – £8million to Hearts and £2million to Partick.

An independent three person panel has been chosen, and they will hear the case from both sides – the two clubs and the SPFL.

Hearts and Partick initially wanted the case to be heard in the courts, however at the Court of Session earlier this month Lord Clark ruled that the matter was for the SFA to arbitrate.

It has previously been reported that witnesses could be called, and this could see SPFL chief Neil Doncaster and Dundee's John Nelms asked about the league-ending vote in April.

We'll bring you any updates on the case and outcome as we get them here on Edinburgh Live.
