Hearts and Partick Thistle issue scathing response to Neil Doncaster letter as clubs slam 'inaccurate and misleading' claims

Hearts and Partick Thistle have issued a scathing response to an SPFL letter circulated ahead of Wednesday's court case.

The clubs claim the correspondence, sent to all 42 teams and signed by Neil Doncaster, is "innacurate" and "misleading" - although its full contents are not yet known.

They've also questioned its timing as they prepare for next week's date at the Edinburgh Court of Session, where they will legally contest the decision to relegate them.

A joint statement reveals the clubs will seek legal advice before taking their next steps.

"Along with the other 40 SPFL clubs, Hearts and Partick Thistle have received a letter, signed by Neil Doncaster, that relates to the forthcoming Court case.

"As much of its content is inaccurate, misleading and the timing itself questionable, we are currently awaiting legal advice on what needs to happen next."

The legal action was due to get under way on Tuesday at 10am but has now been delayed 24 hours to allow all consul instructed to be present.

Hearts and Thistle were condemned to the Championship and League One, respectively, by the controversial vote to call the 2019/20 season in April.

Multiple attempts at introducing league reconstruction have been thrown out by their fellow clubs, resulting in a joint legal challenge.
