Hearts and Hibernian are due to discover their Betfred Cup group stage opponents on Monday, August 10 after the SPFL revealed the start date for the competition.
The Capital duo face a hectic fixture schedule in October and November with group stage matches scheduled on October 6, 10, 13 and November 10 and 14.
The pair are due to square off in the rescheduled Scottish Cup semi-final on October 31 at Hampden - four days after the Jambos kick off their Championship campaign.
Meanwhile, Hibs will play at least nine matches in a six-week period with Premiership fixtures set to take place around both competitions.
The format for the competition remains the same as in previous years, with 40 teams divided in to eight groups of five.
Teams play four matches - two home and two away - in each of the regionalised groups, with an additional 'rest matchday'.
The eight group winners and four best placing runners-up will join Aberdeen, holders Celtic and Rangers in the round of 16 on the weekend of November 28/29.
The draw for the group stage takes place on Monday and will be screened live by Premier Sports via their FreeSports channel and streamed live online.
The draw gets underway at 1:00pm.
