Hearts and Hibs could play at Murrayfield on the same weekend according to Scottish Rugby chief

Scottish Rugby chief Mark Dodson sees no reason why Murrayfield can’t host Hearts and Hibs on the same weekend if required.

The SRU have already offered use of the stadium as football and rugby hub in order to help het both sports back to action, with fans attending whilst maintaining social distancing.

Hearts are open to the idea, although are waiting to see if reconstruction can save them from life in the Championship.

Clubs will email the SPFL on Monday with feedback on a final 14-10-10-10 structure before it’d decided whether the proposal will go to a resolution or not.

The Premiership is aiming to start the 2020/21 season on August 1 and Dodson believes both capital clubs could play at Murrayfield over the same weekend.

“We’ve got huge experience of doing this and we believe we can play a role here but how football starts is something for them, but as soon as they are ready to take it to the next stage, we would assume everything will be in place,” Dodson said in the Daily Record.

“The pitch is designed to take multiple games. Our view is that it could do games on Saturday and Sunday, or Friday and Saturday. The pitch would easily be able to withstand that. We know the pitch is in outstanding condition and we think it could cope with pretty much anything you throw at it.

"These are at early stages but we're very lucky having the estate around BT Murrayfield. We've got lots of room and we're practiced at putting on big events. We have the biggest stadium in Scotland and it's only natural that if you're going to have to be socially distant, the bigger stadium you have, the more chance you have.

“We've had conversations with Hibs and Hearts - they are at an early stage. Our intention is to work with the government and play a role in getting sport back being played. If BT Murrayfield can become a bio-bubble where we can safely get games played, we're very happy.

"They want to get playing football as soon as they possibly can safely. We offer them an alternative and that is a step forward for sport in general across the nation.

"There are further talks to be had on it soon because we have to thrash out the best way
