Hearts and Hibs clash to be probed by SPFL after coconut hurled on pitch

SPFL chiefs will probe the Edinburgh derby after smoke bombs and a COCONUT were hurled on to
 the pitch.

Just six days after the Old Firm mayhem, Scottish football is back under the microscope. Kick-off at Tynecastle was delayed while a smoke bomb was cleared from the pitch and each goal brought more pyrotechnics to the field.

The coconut will cause more concern given the damage it could cause if it struck a player or fan.

Hearts boss Craig Levein said: “It’s nonsense. It’s the first time I’ve heard of a coconut going on to the pitch. Who’s got a spare
coconut to throw on?
Honestly, it’s mental.

Hearts vs Hibs clash sees COCONUT chucked on to the pitch

“Flares are an annoyance more than anything because the game stops. I don’t see the fun of it.”

Those views were echoed by Hibs gaffer Paul
Heckingbottom. He said: “I heard there was a coconut thrown on and that’s a new one on me. With regards to that and the smoke bombs, we don’t want that.”

The incidents came in the week St Mirren keeper Vaclav Hladky narrowly avoided being struck by a firecracker against Celtic.

PFA Scotland repeated their condemnation of all of these incidents.
