Hearts and Aberdeen fined over Tynecastle melee as Craig Levein is censored for U18 misconduct

Hearts and Aberdeen have both been fined over the Tynecastle melee melee that led to four players being booked during their recent Premiership clash.

Both clubs were charged with a breach of SFA disciplinary rule 204 “where three or more players are involved in a confrontation with the opposing team” after the incident in the second half of Hearts ’ 2-1 win on March 30.

Referee John Beaton booked Aberdeen pair Dom Ball and Lewis Ferguson and Hearts’ Arnaud Djoum and John Souttar after a flare-up that was triggered when Ball and Hearts midfielder Sean Clare clashed over a challenge.

Aberdeen admitted their guilt, and the charge against Hearts was proved after they appealed against it.

Meanwhile, Hearts boss Craig Levein has been censured for misconduct over an incident which occurred at an Under 18 match against rivals Hibs.

Levein had appeared on the sidelines during the match at the Orium but had not been listed on the team sheet as being on the coaching staff.
