Hearts 1-0 Rangers: Bozanic strike ensures Hampden return for Daniel Stendel's side

A second-half strike from Oliver Bozanic helped Hearts dump Rangers out the Scottish Cup and secure a semi-final outing at Hampden.

Victory represented the second victory over the Ibrox club for Daniel Stendel's side in little over a month.

Rangers, who were coming into the match in confident mood after success against Braga in Europe, were hassled and harried as Hearts set a high tempo from the early stages.

The Tynecastle club were dealt a blow in just 14 minutes when John Souttar went down off the ball with what appeared to be a serious achilles injury, before being replaced by Clevid Dikamona.

Hearts should have been awarded a penalty shortly before half-time when George Edmundston handled in the box, but Steven McLean pointed for a corner.

From the resulting set piece Hearts had the ball in the net, but the effort was ruled out for a Loic Damour handball – with the Rangers fans unhappy that the Frenchman hadn't been shown a second yellow card.

Stendel's men scored the only goal of the game in 58 minutes when Bozanic slotted home from close range following a James Tavernier error.

Rangers missed late opportunities, the best of which falling to Edmunston, and Hearts held on to secure their return to Hampden for their second semi-final of the season.
