Heartless thieves smash into Salvation Army church and steal charity cash

Heartless thieves broke into a Salvation Army church and stole a charity collection tin.

The burglary took place at the site on Oldham Road in Failsworth in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police have released CCTV images of a group riding around on fold-up bikes outside the main entrance between 1.30am and 2am.

They are asking anyone who was driving past, or who recognises the people pictured, to get in touch as they want to speak to them.

A post, put up on the GMP Failsworth and Hollinwood Facebook page on Tuesday evening, said: "We have had a burglary at the Salvation Army this morning.

The group broke into the church in Failsworth (GMP Failsworth)

"These offenders were outside the main entrance just off Oldham Road between 1.30am and 2am.

"One of these bikes is an odd looking thing called a Brompton, it's one of those folding bikes you see on trains sometimes.

"The Salvation Army (amongst other things) had a collection tin stolen with £30 in it."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
