Heartless thieves rob autistic East Lothian boy's Christmas present after shed break-in

An East Lothian mum has asked for thieves to rethink their behaviour and 'do the right thing' after breaking into a shed and stealing a Christmas present meant for her autistic son.

Emma Drummond of Prestonpans posted on a community Facebook group this afternoon that her parent's shed had been broken into again and that a £60 Godzilla toy, a present meant for her little boy's Christmas had been stolen.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, the 36-year-old said that her family think that the robbery took place yesterday whilst her mum and stepdad had left their home to do a food shop.

She said: "It’s a big gift and it will need replaced sadly.

The Godzilla toy was stolen from the family's shed (Smyths)

"My son's very hard to buy for as he has autism and is still at an age where he’s not speaking so can’t ask for what he would really like either.

"Thefts like this have been happening on and off in Prestonpans but nothing seems to be deterring them."

The toy taken from the shed was a £60 Godzilla figurine from Smyths and stands at 60cm tall.
