Heartland actor Robert Cormier, 33, dies after fall

Heartland star Robert Cormier has died at the age of 33. The actor died on Friday in hospital in Ontario, Canada, from injuries sustained in a serious fall, the Mirror reports.

The news was confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter by Robert's sister Stephanie. A family statement read: "Robert was an athlete, an actor and a great brother.

"He had a passion for helping others and was always looking to achieve more. He enjoyed movie nights with his family and looked up greatly to his father.

"He impacted many people throughout his life, whether it was family, teammates and friends. Rob’s memory will live on through his passion for art and film as well as his three sisters, who meant the world to him.”

Robert was best known for his role as Finn Cotter in the long-running Canadian TV show Heartland. He starred in its 15th season and is expected to be seen in the 16th, which begins on October 2.

Aside from Heartland, Robert's most prominent role was in the Netflix horror anthology series Slasher. He also featured in episodes of the Neil Gaiman adaptation American Gods and had a guest spot in Designated Survivor.

Heartland co-star Michelle Morgan, who plays Lou Fleming on the show, paid tribute in an Instagram post. She wrote: "You had so many more stories to tell. May you Rest In Peace Robert."

She also thanked fans for their supports. In a comment on the post, she wrote: "Thanks everyone it was a hard couple days on set for the whole cast and crew."

UPtv - the channel which airs Heartland - paid its own tribute, writing: "Robert Cormier, aka Heartland's Finn, was an amazing talent, gone too soon. We are deeply saddened to learn of his passing.

"Our sincere condolences go out to his friends, family, and co-workers."

He is survived by his parents Robert and Lisa, sisters Brittany, Krystal and Stephanie and grandmother Joanne. The funeral will take pace on Sunday.
