Heartfelt tributes paid to 'lovely young man' who tragically died in A82 crash

Heartfelt tributes have poured in for “a lovely young man” who tragically died in a horror crash on the A82.

Louis Hall, 22, passed away after his Ford Fiesta collided with a car pulling a trailer on the road near Stoneymollan Roundabout at around 6.45pm on Thursday, November 24.

The former Vale of Leven Academy pupil was the driver of the Fiesta and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured.

Louis has been named locally, with heartbroken friends paying tribute to him on social media.

They described him as “an absolute memory maker” and a “treasure of a human being”.

One of his friends, Thomas Moffat, has set up a Just Giving page to raise money for loved ones following the tragedy.

When the Lennox went to press yesterday, it had already reached £5,560, with Thomas describing it as “unbelievable”.

He posted: “What an unbelievable effort so far on Louis’ page. Thanks so much to everyone who’s shared and donated, we didn’t expect this much money at all, everyone’s been so so kind.”

One of the donors commented: “Louis stayed two doors down when he was a wee boy, and he was good friends with our son. I met him a couple of years ago when he was a temp in Chivas, a lovely young man and a credit to his parents. Such a tragic loss, RIP Louis.”

Other friends have told of their heartbreak, with one posting on social media: “Never thought I’d have to write something like this, not until I was old anyway, not this young... words can’t describe how much I’m going to miss you, Louis, you truly were one of a kind.

“No matter what you could always put a smile on anyone’s face, a genuinely lovely guy who would do anything for you, I’m happy I got to meet such a legend like yourself In my lifetime and got to call you one of my mates, my heart is breaking with you not being here anymore.”

Another friend, Keir Friel, who helped set up the Just Giving page, added: “An absolutely heartbreaking post you would never think you would have to share at the age of 22, Louis was just one of a kind, he was just Louis, there was no other way to describe him, an absolute memory maker and a treasure of a human being. “From the days in Amsterdam, having fires out back or just as simple as talking while playing games there was never a dull moment and just a completely tragic and heart-wrenching loss for everyone. It still doesn’t feel real, and my heart goes out to his family. Till we all meet again mate.”

One of Louis’ work colleagues played a touching tribute to Louis on the bagpipes when he heard of the news, he said: “With great sadness, we mourn for our friend and work colleague Louis Hall. Here’s a wee pipe tune...from all the lads at work, much love and condolences to your family.”

Police Scotland is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Archie McGuire said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the vehicles prior to the crash to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting incident 2738 of November 24, 2022.
